Oops! If you noticed I skipped a blog post in September, you're right—it wasn't intentional, but it was absolutely necessary.
My life has been full-speed ahead, and I'm sharing the "secret" to how I'm managing it all: setting clear goals and creating strong boundaries.
Our Big News: Voices of Vision & V&H Uncensored.......
First, an update on the beautiful chaos!
We've been intensely planning our annual International Women’s Day celebration. This year, we’re leveling up and hosting a full day conference called Voices of Vision! Get ready for an incredible event.
We also officially launched the V&H Uncensored Podcast, which you can now find on all your favorite podcast platforms.
It's been a busy season, but one made possible by fiercely protecting my time.
Why Saying "No" is Your Superpower - To get this much done, I had to learn to turn down things that didn't align with my current goals. And for a former people-pleaser like me, saying "no" was not an easy task. I used to worry about disappointing people or making them upset.
But I realized that the season I am in right now requires my full, best attention.
Showing up as the best version of myself—or as close to it as possible—means prioritizing my spiritual walk and my health. I noticed a dangerous cycle:
Lack of good sleep = Tired mornings.
Tired mornings = Sluggish prayer and Bible time.
Lack of self-care = Unhealthy eating and poor focus.
By 9:00 AM, I’d be a ball of stress! This shows exactly why it's vital to protect your self-care routines and create boundaries against the things that pull you away from showing up as your best self.
Learn from the Lock-In
Years ago, while preparing for my graduate school thesis, I literally locked myself in a room for an entire weekend. I only emerged to shower, eat, and sleep before getting right back to work. It was a huge, but necessary, sacrifice.
The people who truly loved and supported me understood that this season was temporary. Interestingly, those who didn't understand faded away, and looking back, I realize that was probably for the best.
Finish Strong
This post is going live on October 1st, which means we have one last quarter of the year.
How are your annual goals looking?
There is still time to achieve them! Lock in, set your boundaries, and start saying NO to everything that doesn't align with your vision. It is healthy, and it's essential for getting things done.
Be blessed, and let's finish this year strong! - Jeanette aka J-Marie
